vintage 1940s : wedding inspiration from the pin up girls

The 1940s was the era of the pin up girls! Sequins, feathers and short cocktail skirts were the order of the day for girls of glamour. Dress bodices often had great detail (K T Stevens and Lena Horne below).

For brides seeking 1940s vintage inspired gowns, here are my top picks. I love the versatility of this dress. A very flamboyant  ruffled skirt which can be whipped off in the evening (channelling some Betty Grable) into a lovely short dress which is lovely for dancing the night away.

For those of you who adore short wedding dresses and I picked out these two dresses because the detailing is exquisite. Ruffles, feathers and sequins….perfect 1940s pin up wedding inspiration!

This vintage replica dress is beautifully cut with lace and satin accents. The company also makes versions with short or long sleeves and without lace if you prefer a plain silk finish.
